THE WINES OF SAVOIE

The Savoie is a wine region situated in eastern France. It is distinctly alpine between lakes and mountains. The appellation covers four departments: Savoie, Haute Savoie, Isere and Ain.

With grapes varieties such as Jacquere, Roussanne, Altesse, Gringet and Mondeuse, which are very rare elsewhere, it provides the amateur with a range of wines very interesting.

Most vins de Savoie should be drunk young. The Jacquere grapes, which produce fresh, flowery wines, should be drunk within 2 years. Other whites made from Altesse grapes will benefit from ageing a couple of years. While the lighter and fresher wines will be perfect with seafood, river fish, cheese dishes (raclette, fondue), the more complex wines will perfectly accompany white meats, foie gras, exotic dishes and cheeses.

For the reds, wines made from Mondeuse will certainly reward patience and will accompany game dishes, boeuf bourguignon, roast meats and cheeses

Our methodes traditionnelles made from a blend of Chardonnay, jacquere and Altesse for the brut and Gamay for the rose are perfect as an aperitif and with desserts
