SUD OUEST

The winemaking in Cahors goes back to the era of Ancient Rome, with vines been planted in the area around 50 BC. During the Middle Ages, the wine was called “the black wine of Lot” and it featured on many tables (Wedding of Eleanor of Aquitaine with Henri II of England, Francois I, Jean Baptiste Colbert).

The dominant grape variety is Malbec (minimum 70%), also known locally as "Côt", "Côt Noir" or "Auxerrois" and can be supplemented by Merlot or Tannat.

At Bertrand and Nicholas, we decided to work principally with two domains at the moment ; Chateau Eugenie and chateau Armandiere.

Chateau Eugenie comes back to around 1470 when the Famille Couture was working for the Seigneur Albas and it is the great great grandmother Eugenie that gave the name to the domain today.

We stock the tradition, Cuvee Reservee des Tsars, Cuvee de l’Aieul and the Haute Collection. Magnums and double magnums are also available. Please contact us for all your Trade enquiries.

Our latest addition to our range of Cahors is Chateau Armandiere, discovered in London back in December 2008. Just couldn’t resist to his wonderful wines. Bernard is the 4th generation making wines at the Chateau Armandiere, named after Armand, his grandfather.

We stock the following wines: La Fee Violine, Chateau Armandiere 2008, Malbec Ancestral 2005 Diamant Rouge 2002. Please contact us for all your Trade enquiries.

Gaillac is one of the oldest wine region in France. It is situated in the north of the Tarn department and the AOC covers an area of 2.500 hectares spread over 73 communes. With 3 different terroirs and the age of the Gaillac wine producing, it offers a great number of different grape varieties and a vast range and style of wines.

The different grape varieties are typical, specific and high in character. For the white wines, we will see the Mauzac, Len de L’El (Loin de l’oeil), Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. For the red wines, Duras, Braucol, Syrah and Gamay will be used and all these varieties will offer us a very wide range and style of wines to discover and appreciate
